Recipes by Dr. Hulda Clark
Dr.
Hulda Clark publishes lists of commercial products found to be tainted
with toxic chemicals, lists of food-grade non-toxic substitutes and
easy recipes for making one's own pure body products, natural cosmetics
and household cleaning supplies.
I came across Dr. Clark's books in 1996, and since then I've been living as non-toxic a lifestyle as I possibly can. Before then, I was a toxic cocktail mix of chemicals from my store-bought shampoo, soap, lotion, deodorant, cologne, toothpaste, nail polish and make-up. In addition, every nook and cranny of my home was artificially scented. My nose had gotten so desensitized from this daily dose of scented chemicals, that I kept layering more and more of these scents on my body and in my home. By the time I found Dr. Clark's books, I had a major case of acne and allergy problems.
I had to clean up my lifestyle. It was difficult to go "cold turkey" on my daily body rituals, but the recipes Dr. Clark had in her books were easy to make and great substitutes for the products I had gotten accustomed to over the years.
It has now been over ten years since I made my lifestyle change. I am proud to be healthy, blemish-free and strong. It's a wonderful set of healthy habits I am glad to pass on to my child, and even my mother is learning from me.
The
Stay At Home Dad
My husband made this funny Flash animation when I was still pregnant, and he was trying to come to terms with his full time fatherhood. Turn up your audio when you watch The Stay At Home Dad.
Baby's Diaper Needs
The search for the diaper that best fits my family's needs and standards of non-toxic living is documented in Chlorine Free Diapers. In the rare instances when baby gets a diaper rash, I rely on pure Zinc Oxide mixed with water for a petroleum-free diaper rash cream.
As baby grows older, Potty Training becomes an important part of daily life. Parents need to be consistent, patient and persistent.
